Zac Graduates!

Our grandson Zac graduated from South Christian High on Thursday night. He was acknowledged during the ceremony as being one of only three students awarded the
Student of the Month award at KCTC this year. He is such a great guy and we wish him God's best blessings as he goes on to Northwestern University of Ohio to study Diesel Mechanics. Way to go, Zac - we are SO proud of you!

Our niece Rickilyn also graduated....
Mom Beckie, Sister Margie, Ricki, Dad Rick

Ricki with her favorite math teacher, Uncle Bill

Proud aunts!
Me, Ricki, Aunt Denise

Weird picture, but we're thankful for technology that lets my mom hear better. At 81 years old, her only health concern was her hearing - amazing!

I spent a couple of hours with Anna and the kids on Wednesday. We played for a bit at home, went to their favorite place for lunch - Froggy's, and watered their plot in the community garden where they planted yellow beans and carrots.

Keep checking back - I hope to post pictures from Iceland soon.....

No matter where your chair is plunked,
may you find time to sit and reflect on all the blessings
in your life!

Home!

I had a wonderful ten days in Iceland with Meike and Ute! But Bill told me on the drive home from Chicago that Dick, our 'dearest and best', was diagnosed with lymphoma. So the joy of my journey is mingled with concern and I am posting some pictures taken during the last two weeks as a prayer for him.

As you walk through this wilderness

to unfamiliar places;

when your way is rugged

and rocky

and steep;

when the cliffs seem impassable

and the storm clouds gather;

when things just don't make sense.....

....may our gracious Lord remind you that He walks this path with you.
May he surprise you with blessings when you least expect it.

He will lead you to green pastures

and quiet waters.

And as the sun goes down each day, may you rest - knowing He never sleeps.
His promises are faithful and true.

More pictures of Iceland another day - today all that is on my mind is Dick and Jacque. Will you please pray for them? They will post updates on carepages.com After signing in, type in dickbolt (without a space) and you will find the latest prayer requests and information. Thanks.

Mother's Day and Other Blessings

We celebrated Mother's Day last Sunday and our tradition continued - the guys shopped for groceries, prepared and served dinner, and cleaned up afterward. The kids helped and we - the moms - sat and enjoyed each other's company. Sure was great again!
The moms - me, Grandma B., Lynn and Anna

Tom and Bill cooking

Lots of dishes!

Steve helping with the clean-up

Abby picked out flowers for Great-Grandma

Adding this one to prove to my kids that I do post pictures of myself - occasionally......
They made sure to get a shot of me and my teary reaction to a wonderful gift from Tom and Anna :)

A perfect spot for such a great saying!

Gifts that arrived from Laura and Ben - some great snacks for my trip and a special picture frame with a photo of Laura and me. Perfect!

Noah and Grandpa

"Sisters' lunch" this month was replaced by a day of cleaning the cottage, getting it ready for the invasion of all of us soon. Too bad I didn't get a picture, but stay tuned....more shots of preparation for the cottage are coming up :)

There were several ball games this week - Ty plays for Byron Christian and Deven for a Little League team sponsored by his Dad :)

Deven ready for his game - note the shirt!

Tori with her friend Sydney (Bean Soup :)

This one is for my friend Mel - it's an inside joke having to do with porkchops and indecision......

Beautiful tulips greeted me at the door when I went for a haircut....

This one is of Deven on his quad ......
....he took me for a great ride!

Tori spent lots of time making special cards and pictures

Tori is taking piano lessons and has an incredible ear for music, a trait she must have received from her mom. Although Steve was outstanding on the saxophone!

Steve now has a couple of pigs in addition to their chickens. Tori went in their pen and took this picture.

We invited ourselves to the Gary & Shirley's for supper on Thursday evening - we brought the meal and they provided the hospitality. Shirley is doing well after hip replacement; we're thankful the horrible pain she endured all winter is over and that she is gaining strength and mobility.
Gary does a great job of being the housekeeper, cook, shopper, and laundry guy these days while Shirley recuperates.

Here are the pictures I promised about preparation for the cottage. Beckie and I had lunch and then went shopping for supplies. Sure was a lot more fun with her along!
When we cleaned at the cottage, we threw out almost all the pillows and replaced them with 14 new ones - we had two carts full of stuff that will go with Bill when he helps get the boats and dock in tomorrow.

This last picture is of the bag that my sister Denise gave me years and years ago. It has been with me on every trip and vacation since then. Wish I had kept track of all the countries and states it's been in - at least 15 countries, dozens of states, and many islands and ports. It's now packed and ready for my trip to Iceland to meet up with my friends from Germany, Meike and Ute. I leave tomorrow afternoon and will be home the day before Zac's graduation on the 22nd!
I hope that wherever your travels take you,
you will find friends and fun!
